Get a Library Card
Content Body
Here’s where you explain how easy it is to get a library card. You’ll want to outline the process and specify what kind of identification is required. You may also want to explain such rules as loan periods, renewals, holds, fines, and so on, and/or link to your Policies and Procedures page.
Applying for a Library Card
Library cards are free! Just fill out an application at the Circulation Desk, and present photo identification with your name and current address. If you are under the age of 18, identification is not required. Your parent or guardian's signature on the library card application is accepted instead of identification.
Loan Periods
Here’s where you outline the standard loan period for books and other materials, and list any exceptions to the standard period.
Renewals
Here’s where you explain the policy for renewing items that have been checked out. You can also let patrons know the ways they can renew: in person, over the phone, or online. Let them know what info they’ll need to renew: their library card, the barcode numbers of the items they want to renew, etc.
Audio/Video Services
If your library lends videotapes, DVDs, CDs, audio cassettes, or books-on-tape, here’s where you explain how it works. List any fees for renting audio/video services, and what the standard rental period is. List the renewal policy for audio/video, and any fines for late return.
Fines & Fees
List fees for any special collections, including audio/video rentals, and fines for the late return of materials. If you have several fees and fines for various situations, displaying the information in a table improves readability:
Materials Adult material Children’s material DVDs Videos | Daily Fine $0.30 $0.15 $0.50 $0.75 | Maximum Fine (per item) $10.00 $5.00 $10.00 $15.00 |
